The trip to Teslin is cold and overcast. The snow is still on the mountains an early winter is expected.
This is the first time Jo and I have been to Teslin. It came into the US recognition with the building of the Alcan highway as one of the military bases.
Teslin includes the Village of Teslin and an adjacent Indian Reserve in the Yukon. Teslin is at historical Mile 804 on the Alcan along Teslin Lake. The Hudson's Bay Company established a small trading post at Teslin in 1903 and also the is home to the Teslin Inland Tlingit First Nation.
Teslin also became know for a Tlingit Indian, George Johnston (1884–1972) known for his trapping and his photography. With his camera, he captured the culture of the inland Tlingit people of Teslin and Atlin between 1910 and 1940.

From his trapping and photography, Johnston brought the first car, a 1928 Chevrolet, to Teslin. Since the Alaska Highway has not been built yet, George built a 3-mile road for his "Teslin taxi." The '28 Chevy has been restored and is now on permanent display at the George Johnston Museum.

In winter, George found that the black car frightened the animals and did not fit in with the snow landscapes, so he put chains on the car, and drove it on frozen Teslin Lake.
